Writing poems as soon as she had first learned to read and write, Jade Shepherd's passion for words led her into song writing from an early age. With influences such as Simon & Garfunkel, Peter Gabriel, and Phil Collins, Jade began writing her own songs to simple chord progressions on her acoustic guitar.
As she’s grown and delved into the different experiences and emotions that come certain with everyday life, Jade's song writing has blossomed, as has her musicianship. In her early teens she received drum lessons and taught herself how to play guitar, bass, keyboard, and percussion. With the love and help of family she received an audio recorder and microphone for her 16th birthday which she would then use to record her first original songs.
Over the years, Jade continued to write, record, produce, and publish several original songs to her growing YouTube channel until she was discovered by a multi Grammy award winning singer/songwriter who brought her to Nashville, Tennessee in late 2019 where she had the opportunity to write with other songwriters and be involved in the writing, recording and production of an upcoming country-pop album for a fellow musician. All the while using that inspiration and energy for her own music to develop her own unique sound.
Her single 'Quiet Life' was written about the hustle and bustle of life in general, the seemingly ever increasing invasion of our privacy (as referenced in the line "paint curtains on the prying eyes"), and the burning desire for something more. To "break apart from the chains of the nine-to-five" and forge our own path that resonates on a deeper level with our hearts, souls, and with nature.
A little while after 'Quiet Life' came a change in pace when Jade's next single was released in February 2021. The up-beat, pop-rock track 'Don't Jump The Gun' was accompanied by an equally fast-paced music video that she had a fantastic time making and showed a lighter, more playful side to Jade's character.
Fast-forward two years and a lot has changed for everyone. The pandemic called into question the stability of countless musicians' careers and unfortunately left many in a position where their music had to be put on hold in favour of a more secure income stream.
The break in music was not met without challenge, but now in 2023, Jade is back with her brand new single 'The House Always Wins' - out 17th March. The five-minute piece begins mellow and sets the scene with an eerie tone that builds to a crescendo of booming drums and a guitar solo that cuts straight to the heart & soul. Together with the song's haunting lyrics (we'll let you decide the meaning), 'The House Always Wins' captures the most delicate aspects of Jade's writing style and pairs them with a Fleetwood Mac-esque eruption of emotive rock that is sure to leave you with goosebumps.
Stay tuned...
